Downtown Woodstock’s Best Place to Fall in Love with Wine (And Whiskey!)

Looking for some reasons to leave the house this winter? Warm up with some of the best wine and whiskey events in all of Cherokee County! We have tastings, pairing dinners, and don’t forget about celebrating with your sweetie on the annual night of romance. In the next few weeks, we have a little something for everyone! Here are a just a few reasons to fall in love with wine and whiskey and Rootstock and Vine.

Reason 1: Syrah Wine Tasting

On Wednesday, February 5th, we’re kicking off our monthly wine tastings of 2020 with Que Syrah, Syrah, an ode to this dry, full-bodied elegant red wine. These wine tastings are led by a wine professional and are a great opportunity to expand your palate, gain knowledge and discuss the experience with other wine-loving individuals! Our February tasting will introduce Syrah from five different countries: United States, France, Australia, South Africa and Italy. We’ll be joined by certified Sommelier and guest Aubree Magness as she guides you through the tour and offer insight into each of the wines.

Reason 2: Whiskey Pairing

We continue to grow our reputation as not only a place for excellent wine, but also bourbon and whisky through our monthly tastings and pairing dinners. This month, in partnership with the Metro Atlanta Scotch Club, we’ll explore Scotland during a single malt tasting. The menu includes three Campbelltown, one Speyside, one Highland and one Islay, which are all paired with small plates featuring the talent from our Executive Chef AJ Jones. This month, attendees can look forward to sampling the following:

– Kilkerran Single Malt 12 yr
– Tamdhu Single Malt 12 yr
– Glen Scotia Single Malt 15 yr
– Oban Single Malt “Little Bay”
– Springbank Single Malt 10 yr
– Kilchoman Single Malt “Loch Gorm”

We’re different in that we bring in experts to educate and inspire our guests to learn more about the various types of wine, bourbon and whisky available. You’ll want to make sure to bring a friend, because “Good Whisky is made great among friends.”

Reason 3: Valentine’s Dinner

Treat your love to a special dinner with our Valentine’s Day prix fixe menu to make your heart melt! We’re offering a four-course menu for $65 a person, and guests can select one item from each course.

Start your evening with oysters Rockefeller, fried vegetable ravioli or a Chef’s choice charcuterie board. Follow that with your choice of Apple Leek Bisque or Beet and Goat Cheese Salad. Then, dazzle your date with a choice of four main courses: N.Y. Striploin, Kale Stuffed Piquillo Pepper, Quail A L’Orange, or Seared Scallops.

This special menu will run Thursday through Saturday, so guests can choose a date that works best for them!

Reason 4: Pride Vineyards Pairing Dinner

Each month, our pairing dinners offer the ability to sit down, relax and be taken on your own give-course vineyard (or distillery) tour. We strive to offer the best wines, whiskies and bourbons along with a chance to meet and talk to winemakers, taste superior food, and take in the beauty of downtown Woodstock.

On February 26th, we’re thrilled to invite Pride Vineyards from Saint Helena, California as our featured winery! Pride Vineyards straddles the Napa/Sonoma county line, located at the site of historic Summit Ranch.Founded in 1990 by Jim and Carolyn Pride, Pride Mountain Vineyards is recognized as one of the “world’s greatest wine estates” by Robert Parker, Jr., joining just 22 other California wineries for this distinction. Pride wines have appeared numerous times on The Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Wines of the World list, and have been served at the White House more than 30 times during the last two decades.

With menu pairings such as grilled prawns, lamb grilled flatbread and Pork Osso Buco, these highly lauded wines will be an absolute delight!

Whether you take in a tasting or come have dinner (or both!), we look forward to seeing you at Rootstock again soon!
