CANON TYLER IN THE LISTENING ROOM
SATURDAY MARCH 26 7.30PM
Canon is a home grown singer-songwriter from the hills of North Georgia. His songs tell stories of pride, hope, hard times and tough breaks as they pertain to life at fringes of Appalachia. Born and raised in small town Dawsonville, GA, Canon has watched as his family and friends have gone through all of the above, and translates these stories into honest songs about making it through the trials and tribulations of mountain life. Inspired by modern Country heavy-hitters like Tyler Childers, Jason Isbell and Sturgill Simpson, as well as ’70s folk legends Neil Young and Jackson Browne, Tyler’s music comes out somewhere in the middle.
The newest album, “Hangin’ On”, is a collection of stripped down, acoustic songs that showcase Tyler’s storyteller approach to songwriting. Inspired by the traditions of the North Georgia mountains, the sparse instrumentation lets these songs breathe, while honoring the place they came from. Recorded both live in studio and at the University of North Georgia, This record captures the essence of the live performances that are the foundation of Tyler’s budding career.
