Mark Miller was born in Music City, USA and reared by musician parents in rural Georgia. After an almost 20 year career in Contemporary Christian and Gospel music, Mark returned to his first love of writing and performing his own brand of Americana music. The last several years he has been performing 200+ shows each year and selling out listening rooms from Georgia to Maine. After the sudden death of his father from Covid-19 in 2021, Mark began researching and writing songs about the paternal side of his family tree. The stories of Civil War battles, the Great Depression, the Dust Bowl, murder, suicide, drownings, victory and defeat had a profound impact on Mark, and inspired him to write arguably the most heartfelt songs of his career. Americana Highways declared his latest recording “Standing on Shoulders” as “one of the years best Americana albums…..if you are looking for original songs, I give you Mark Miller’s “Standing on Shoulders””. The Midwest Record wrote, “a literate set of Country flavored Americana writing that will open your ears in ways you don’t expect. Personal stuff that will touch all.”.
When not performing or writing, Mark serves as an adjunct professor at West Virginia University, where he works with Music Industry and Music Therapy students.
