Your next assignment involves delving into the world of wine-finished whiskies. There is a fine line between a successful wine finish and a barely-palatable distillate. Whether it’s a varietal we all know, like Pinot Noir, Sherry, or Port, or something a little more outlandish like Hungarian Tokaji or Ice Wine, the process requires constant tasting and tweaking to produce the proper balance of fruit and grain. As always, there will be prizes distributed for any participants able to properly determine all four of our tastings.
