Pour #1

Albert Bichot, Macon-Villages (Burgundy, France)                                                   $20.00 Retail Bottle Price

White Burgundy is the gold standard for elegant Chardonnay throughout the world, but it should not cost its actual weight in gold!  It was never inexpensive, but several difficult vintages due to late spring freezes, hail damage, and Covid has made it even more rare and pricy.  Thankfully, we have this rare gem for you at only $20 retail bottle.  This region is producing more aromatic and crisp white wines of character.  By law, the wine is 100% Chardonnay and fermented and matured completely in stainless steel tanks.

Pour #2

Les Hauts de Janeil, Red (Pyrenees, France)                                                              $14 Retail Bottle

Mas de Janeil is an organically farmed 25 hectare (about 50 acres) property near Corbieres in the Agly Valley of Southern France.  The grapevines are planted on hillsides at the foot of the Pyrenees Mountains and the border with Spain that one can see from the fields and winery.  This easy drinking red is perfect for fall, as it’s a mixture of 80% Syrah and 20% Grenache (what the owner calls the “Pinot Noir of the Pyrenees”)

Pour #3

Valley View Vineyards, Rogue Red (Rogue River Valley, Oregon)              $15 Retail Bottle

This fruity red is a proprietary blend of seven grapes varietals (meaning they are telling us) that is way to easy to drink.  It could end up being your everyday go-to red, as it’s an ideal match with burgers and pizza.  The winery was founded in 1850 by California wine pioneers moving northward but didn’t make it past prohibition.  The winery was restored in 1976 by Frank and Ann Wisnovsky, purchasing some of the original property and building a new winemaking facility in nearby the Applegate Valley a few miles down the road.

Pour #4

La Palazzetta, Sant’Animo (Tuscany, Italy)                                                          $18 Retail Bottle

An organic Sangiovese bottling from younger grapevines near Montalcino (most of their focus is on the much more expensive and sought after Brunello di Montalcino and its “little brother” Rosso).  Flavio Fanti started this winery in 1988 with just one acre of planted Sangiovese grapes.  Located on the southern edge of Montalcino, they have grown to just over 20 hectares (all farmed organically)

Pour #5

Naufrager, Malvasia di Casorzo Dolce (Piemonte, Italy)                                           $15 Retail Bottle

This sparkling wine is literally adult grape soda – as it certainly feels like it.  It’s name is a bit of a tongue-twister to pronounce, but fans of it generally know it by the unique bottle and label, as it sells unbelievably well once someone tries it.  Even though no one has ever heard of it, and cannot pronounce it, this wine has become one of our best-sellers.  Located near Asti, the Casorzo growing zone is fairly small and in these hillside vineyards grow this rare grape.  Some drinkers have even compared and called it to a “purple Moscato” but its light, fizzy, and has tons of fresh berry flavors that is certainly a great match for all the Thanksgiving desserts and pies.
