May the Horse be With You at Rootstock & Vine’s Derby Day Celebration!

Every first Saturday in May, for the past 149 years, the rich and well-connected have gathered in Kentucky to watch the world’s most famous horse race. If you can’t make it to Kentucky this year, Rootstock & Vine in downtown Woodstock is your local home to gather with friends, wear your finest giant hat, and knock back a mint julep or two to celebrate all things “Derby” with Off to the Races: A Derby Day Party!

As you may have already suspected, Rootstock & Vine has an entire day of Derby-themed revelry planned. Already known to many as the best place for food and drinks in downtown Woodstock, it’s our goal to continuously up the ante with our themed events, and Derby Day is no exception.

You can take a horse to water but can you make yourself a drink?

If you’ve always wanted to take a bartending class, what could be a better time than Derby Day? Rootstock is hosting a “cocktail creation class” from 3-5 pm on Sunday, May 4 and you can sign up now for the exclusive opportunity to learn from professional mixologists. You’ll create two classic derby cocktails…and then you’ll drink them while you watch the race! You also get to take home a mint julep mug to practices those newly acquired skills at home. Tickets for the cocktail class are $49.99/person and space is limited, so reserve your spot now!

Plus: For everyone who attends our cocktail creation class, we’re going to offer VIP tickets to first concert of the Woodstock Concert Series season! The first concert is Mark Wills, and these lucky folks won’t have to worry about finding a spot with their chair days ahead of time. What’s more, food and drinks are included, so concertgoers can show up for dinner, drinks and a night out without any planning at all!

Here it’s ok to change horses in midstream.

Once you’ve learned how to make the perfect Derby cocktail, you’ll join the rest of Rootstock to celebrate Derby Day! There’s always a lot to take in at Rootstock, but this is a horse of a different color! From 4-9 pm, Rootstock & Vine transforms into Louisville. The Derby is all about those spring looks, so come with your hat-and-suspenders game strong! The Derby will be playing on the TVs (coverage begins at 2:30 and the race is at 6:45 pm!), fresh roses will be given to the ladies and other great prizes will be handed out to a lucky few Secretariats…and it all culminates with the most exciting two-minute race in sports!

Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth (ok, ok, enough!). Bring your best, bourbon-loving, southern-charming self out to Derby Day this May 4 at Rootstock & Vine in downtown Woodstock.
